On my 84 Gt Turbo I used a plain old Cherry Bomb, 2 1/2" dia x 23" long. I had the stock downpipe, but gutted the cat. Every thing aft of the cat was 2 1/2 "....

the best thing you can do on a 2.3 turbo exh. is to change the downpip for a 3" one and run 3" pipe to the muffler, then after the muffler 2 1/2 or 3" is fine....
