Light Pollution is the result of excessive and uncontrolled outdoor lighting. This forum was founded June 14, 2000 to help establish and maintain communications between people concerned about light pollution and seeking solutions using legal, ethical and moral methodologies. This Forum evolved after Bryan Greer's DRKSKY listserv ended! Many new features have since been added to help our members learn more about Outdoor Lighting and Light Pollution.

Globally, organizations like the "Citizens for Responsible Lighting" (CRL) and the "International Dark-Sky Association" (IDA) help raise public awareness, and promote responsible outdoor lighting without compromising safety or creating the unfavorable conditions of light pollution. While membership in IDA or CRL is encouraged it is not a prerequisite to membership in this forum. This Forum is open to anyone interested in saving one of nature's greatest gifts - a Dark Star-Filled Night Sky.

When mail is sent to the Forum it is sent to all members simultaneously and archived in our database. Members are encouraged to use and build the DarkSky List Forum's features as well.
