Description

Here are the guidelines for the Austin Cable / Cable Modem list.
  1. Do not be easily annoyed.

This should be self explanatory, but for anyone wanting or needing greater detail it frequently means to not reply to a message in the group. Email the moderator instead.

  2. Do not be excessively annoying.

Please consider this criterion when determining whether to post a message to the group or send an email message directly to someone on this list. Keep in mind that the following items have been categorized as being annoying, but this is not an exhaustive list.

    • Over use of profanity since some readers are young. If you can’t get your point across without a string of curse words, please consult a thesaurus.
    • Advertisements of any sort.
    • Posting of "flame" or derogatory messages using ethnic or racial references. Plus, no personal threats to anyone.
    • Posting of moderator type messages without the moderator requesting such assistance. If someone is out of hand in your eyes, let the moderator know.
    • Non-compliance with a moderation message.

  3. Let's at least try to keep to the topic of the list.

Messages in the list are to relate to the operation/setup of Time Warner Austin cable modems or to being a customer of Time Warner Cable.

  4. Time Warner employees volunteer their efforts here. This is not a Time Warner sponsored or controlled forum. We all understand how frustrating it can be to deal with Time Warner, but please don't take it out on Time Warner employees in this forum.

  5. Have fun and share your knowledge with the community.

Thanks, Jon, but how does the A/B switch figure into the equation? Will the DVR not function as a pass-through--like TiVo units do? Linda ... DVR. The DVR is

Firstly, you can't connect the antenna to the INPUT side of the DVR. The DVR is designed only to receive and process cable signals. Secondly, it sounds like

John, I really appreciate the "Guide"! However, I have a few questions: (1) Are you running both inputs, i.e., antenna and cable, through a DVR? (2) If so, the
