This list began with the 350th anniversary of The Diggers and is still discussing their legacy. (click here to see the 11 minute film about the action) The Diggers appeared in 1648 at the end of the English Civil war with a mission to make the earth 'a common treasury for all'. In the spring of 1999 there were fluffy celebrations and peaceful land occupations South West of London to remember Gerrard Winstanley, William Everard and the Diggers' vision.
