In the face of escalating hostilities in Palestine and Israel, newspapers and magazines in the United States have initiated a public opinion damage control mobilization that harkens to the old days of "Israel-good-Arabs-bad" simplistic language. To counter this alarming effort, Palestine Media Watch has been established to help its members keep an eye on biased and unfair opinion pieces, columns, and newspaper and magazine stories on the Palestinian crisis, so that a swift reaction can be undertaken in the form of letters to the editor, columns, and opinion pieces.

Members can point to opinion pieces, columns, articles, in their home newspapers or in magazines, that should be reacted to. The group will also serve as a sounding board for people who want help from others on polishing a letter to the editor they wish to send, or a column, etc. That is, the group will serve as a members-driven support group where we all help each other keep an eye on what is said about the Palestinian problem, as well as craft reactions to what is being written or said.
