Cotton-l is a discussion group for the cotton industry.
<Note: the following post is distributed periodically>
Welcome to cotton-l. This mailing list has the potential to be a
valuable tool for the cotton industry, and we all stand to benefit
from an active list.
There are a few basic ground rules that will apply to discussions on
cotton-l. These policies are intended to make cotton-l a more
productive forum, and are based on the online experience of the
listowners. If you are unclear on these policies, please direct your
questions to the listowners via private e-mail (addresses below).
1) Cotton-L is not formally affiliated with any firm or organization.
It's entire purpose is simply to provide an electronic forum for the
discussion of topics relevant to the cotton industry.
2) Since Cotton-L is an industry group, limited commercial posts
(product, service, or program announcements) are acceptable as long
as
they meet a few criteria:
a) The focus of the group remains on discussion of substantive
issues.
b) Commercial announcements are directly related to some aspect of
the cotton industry.
c) Commercial announcements should not be repeated.
3) While most, if not all, subscribers to cotton-l are employed in
the cotton industry, all subscribers will be assumed to be speaking
only for themselves and not their employers unless otherwise
indicated.
4) Mailing lists are excellent forums for debate on controversial
topics. Debate is encouraged on Cotton-l. "Flaming," however, or
personal attacks are not appropriate. Violators of this policy will
be
given one warning and then removed from the list.
5) Cotton-l is only intended for the discussion of cotton-related
issues. Off-topic posts and personal mail are not appropriate for the
list.
6) Cotton-L is a closed list. While anyone may subscribe at any time,
messages from non-subscribers will be rejected. This should help to
cut down on spamming and junk e-mail.
7) On matters of list policy, the decisions o

Also FWIW, I followed up on Barry's legwork and signed up for this service. The website has a two-week free trial. It works great. We'll keep it. Steve Ford

Re: re; Rita rain
With very little defoliation (completed) or harvest yet, this is what I am seeing. Many people think their cotton is hurt by drought so bad it will not regrow.
